My students and clients have accomplished all of the above and much more. They've gotten deals with Simon & Schuster, Free Press, Scribner's, and other top houses...gotten movie deals with Hollywood's top producers...published their journalism in America's leading newspapers...

Acclaimed novelist? Author of a published memoir? Nonfiction author? Journalist?

When it comes to attaining the level of quality that agents and publishers demand, you don't need "experts" who've never sold a book offering you glittering generalities and vague criticisms.

You need someone who's been in the trenches - as a published author and journalist, and as writing coach whose students and clients have a solid track record of success.

Sometimes the hardest part of being a writer isn't getting ideas, or finding the time and discipline to get your writing done.

Sometimes the hardest part is finding someone in the publishing industry to take you seriously...and show you exactly what your writing needs if you're going to succeed. - I'm that person for you.

Whether you've already written all or part of a manuscript, have an idea for a book, need a ghostwriter, want information in the form of CD's, videos, ebooks, or online courses, I've helped thousands of writers...and I can help you.

More than forty published books, including seven novels and twenty ghostwritten works.

In the 17 years since then, I've published 36 books, including six novels. With publishers including Simon & Schuster, Random House, Putnam/Berkley, and Beacon Press.

I've gotten two movie deals for my novels and I've been hired to write two screenplays. One of my novels became Model Behavior, an ABC Sunday Night Disney Movie of the Week. My wife and I got to be extras in the movie...which they were shooting while we were on our honeymoon! How's that for living the dream?

I've written opinion, humor, and travel pieces for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, the Boston Globe...whenever an idea arises.

And I haven't looked back for one minute on a legal career that ended less than 16 months after it began.

One day the phone rang. It was the UCLA Writing Program. Did I want to come teach writing? You bet I did. In the last thirteen years, I've taught at UCLA, New York University, in private classes, and one-on-one with individuals like you.

"Michael offers the most incredibly constructive empathy." -- Elizabeth Kreyling, Westchester County, New York, nonfiction client

"You're outstanding at listening, understanding, and giving direction. You are great, thoughtful, sincere and dedicated to what you do." -- Lauren Cragg, Winsted, Connecticut, fiction client

"Your tactfulness was rare, in my humble experience. Your gentle way of giving, offering thoughts. Thank you for the delicacy of your words. Thanks so much for giving to me from your knowledge and experience, and sensitivity about the artist's ego and soul." -- Claudia Gold-Fanning, fiction client, San Pedro, California

"Levin was superb. He was so enthusiastic that it was infectious. You couldn't help coming out of there feeling you could sell your book." -- One of Michael's UCLA Writing Program students

Let's say you've already written a novel, a nonfiction book, or a memoir. I can guide you to revise your manuscript to make it bulletproof. Or you can have me rewrite your novel or nonfiction book for you. One of my editors says that his idea of a good manuscript is one that makes him miss his subway stop. I can show you how to have agents and publishers reading until they've reached Pelham Parkway. (That's way past their stop - trust me!)
